Impressions from the STRICE Campaign
on the Lighthouse Norstrømsgrund
during the 2003 Measurement Period

Obtained and assembled by Kari Kolari of VTT during
work on the lighthouse from February 15 to 23, 2003.

Measured level ice thickness ranged from 0.4 to 0.7 metres.

The vibration which can be seen in the video scenes taken with the camera fixed to the lighthouse result from ice-structure interaction and thereby caused static and dynamic loads. The lighthouse vibrates partially very heavily and with different modes and frequencies in response to the ice forces and movements.
